Live Roulette Game: Join the action

Roulette has been a popular game since its invention by a Frenchman in the 18th century. Every casino in the world has several roulette tables and they’re generally very busy. Live roulette has always been one of a casino’s greatest ways to attract players, but you don’t even need to visit an actual casino to play it any more.

Online casinos have always had roulette available, but in a video version that lacked the excitement of the real game, but now there is a new version of online roulette which players love. Live roulette gives the player a genuine casino experience with a real dealer from the comfort of their own home.

Live roulette is an amazing innovation

And it works by online casinos setting up what is effectively a mock casino. This is laid out exactly like a real casino with tables and dealers. Then by using web cameras you are able to follow the action from your PC. The dealers have microphones so you can communicate with them as if you were there.

Live roulette with a real dealer is a fantastic way to enjoy the classic casino game and there are a number of places you can play it for free. That’s right, you don’t even need to risk your own money to enjoy it!

Different types of live roulette

There are two main types of roulette that you are likely to come across as you play live roulette, American and European.

European roulette is the most common version of the game and it has a wheel with numbers 1 to 36 as well as a zero. This gives a 1 in 37 chance of winning when betting on individual numbers. Some casinos have a rule that if the ball lands on zero that your bet can remain for one more round. This is called ‘la partage’.

American live roulette

This one has one fundamental difference from its European cousin, the double zero. This is found on the wheel opposite the zero. It still has numbers 1 to 36, but the inclusion of the double zero changes the odds and the chance of winning when betting on an individual number is 1 in 38.

Both the American and European roulette wheels have the numbers laid out differently. Neither is in numerical order and it looks at first glance to be random, but every European roulette wheel and every American roulette wheel has the numbers in the same positions.

There are other less common versions of roulette you might find whilst playing live roulette online such as California roulette which uses a wheel full of cards and a pointer rather than slots and a ball.

Different roulette bets

There are many bets you can make on a roulette table. Picking an individual number gives the highest payout, but it is difficult to win as the chances are low.

You can also place your chips between two or even four numbers which gives reduced odds but better coverage.

If you want something with a greater chance of winning, but with lower odds then there are also bets for you. You can choose whether the ball will land in the first, second or third third of the table, meaning 1-12,13-24 and 25-36 are the groups you can chose. This popular bet pays at 2 to 1.

Choosing whether the winning number is odd or even or whether it is red or black are also very popular bets. These both pay even money which doubles your stake. These outside bets are often played for higher stakes than betting on individual numbers and are all unfortunately lost in the event of the winning number being zero (or double zero if playing American roulette).

Roulette is an exciting game and now thanks to live roulette with real dealers you can play it at home too.

Don’t forget to try it for free and become better acquainted with the game before you risk your own money and when you are ready to play for real make sure you choose the casino with the best bonuses for new players.
